The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, has said the vote strength garnered in the northwest political zone is critical to the party’s success in the forthcoming general elections.

Oyegun stated this yesterday, during the inauguration ceremony of the party North-West zone executive members and special rally held in Sokoto.

The rally was attended by governors of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kano, Imo and Edo states, other party bigwigs included the former speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, former governors of Bayelsa and Zamfara states, Chief Timi Silva and Senator Ahmed Yerima, among others.

Oyegun noted that the rally held in Sokoto has further proved that APC is waxing stronger in the zone, adding that, “the throne of the party is being set in Sokoto, and the terminus will be in Aso Rock”.

He faulted as non performance the transformation agenda of the PDP-led federal government, assuring that the change being clamouring for by his party would bring a new course for national development.

His words: “they always talk about transformation agenda, which is not working. They brought transformation agenda into power sector, our national grid went down drastically. They claimed to have transformed education but our institutions were shut down due to strike. When they transformed health sector, they brought the Ebola virus.

“We are telling them that change is superior to transformation agenda. We are tired of the atrocities being committed by the PDP-led government. We need the change by voting out PDP in 2015.” Oyegun explained.

Also speaking, the host Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko said the reign of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the central would be cut short in 2015.
