Housewife Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Kill Husband in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old housewife for allegedly attempting to kill her husband in Katsina.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to him, the incident was reported at the Central Market Police Division at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday by the victim, Jamilu Ibrahim.

Sadiq-Aliyu said Ibrahim alleged that at about 5:30 a.m. the same day, while he was asleep, his wife attacked him with a knife in an attempt to slit his throat.

The police spokesperson said the victim sustained a deep cut to the neck and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently responding to treatment.

He added that police operatives promptly visited the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack.

“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.

He also quoted the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar-Fage, as warning residents against domestic violence and urging families to resolve disputes through peaceful and lawful means.

The commissioner further appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support the police in combating crime across the state.
