A coalition of stakeholders in Enugu State has declared that the wave of reforms and “unprecedented firsts” introduced by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is steadily silencing opposition voices and redefining governance in the state.

The group, Concerned Stakeholders for Good Governance, led by its convener, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., said the administration’s performance has left critics with little to hold on to, as visible development continues to spread across the state.

Speaking in Enugu, Nwaokobia said opposition politics thrives where governments fail, but noted that the situation in the state has changed due to what he described as bold and impactful leadership.

“Opposition feeds on failure — abandoned projects, broken promises, and loss of public trust. But in Enugu today, what the people see are projects, progress, and purposeful leadership. That reality is silencing empty criticisms,” he said.

He stressed that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Mbah has shocked even his critics with the speed and scale of his governance approach, choosing performance over political showmanship.

According to him, what sets the administration apart is not just the number of projects, but the fact that many of them are happening for the first time in the history of the state.

Among such initiatives, the group highlighted the establishment of a Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation, describing it as a major leap in strengthening security and justice delivery.

In education, the stakeholders pointed to the ongoing construction of Smart Green Schools in all 260 political wards, describing it as a bold and futuristic intervention.

“These are not ordinary schools. They are technology-driven centres designed to prepare our children for the future. This is a revolution in education,” Nwaokobia said.

The group also praised the rollout of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the wards, noting that rural communities are now witnessing access to quality healthcare like never before.

On infrastructure, it commended the massive road construction and urban renewal projects, which it said are transforming the physical landscape of the state and boosting economic activities.

The stakeholders further noted improvements in security through the use of modern technology, including surveillance systems and integrated command centres, which have enhanced safety and investor confidence.

Speaking on the economy, the group said the administration is breaking away from overdependence on federal allocations by promoting investment, enterprise, and industrial growth.

Agriculture, it added, is being transformed into a viable business through mechanisation and value-chain development.

Nwaokobia said the administration has also introduced a new culture of governance where accountability and delivery are paramount.

“Today, people are no longer interested in who talks the most. They want to see results, and that is what Governor Mbah is providing,” he said.

While acknowledging the role of opposition in democracy, the group insisted that criticism must be rooted in facts, not speculation.

According to the stakeholders, the visible impact of governance has raised public expectations, with citizens now demanding speed, efficiency, and excellence from leaders.

They maintained that Governor Mbah’s achievements across sectors have not only accelerated development but also changed the political conversation in Enugu State.

“The truth is simple: the strongest response to opposition is performance. And in Enugu today, performance is speaking louder than words,” Nwaokobia declared.

The group urged continued support for the administration, noting that the ongoing reforms are laying a solid foundation for sustained growth and prosperity in the state.
