Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected N203.61 billion from customers in April, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The figure is contained in the commission’s Commercial Performance Factsheet for April.
In March, the electricity distribution companies collected N196.13 billion, representing a 3.8 percent increase.
The report showed that the value of energy received by the 11 DisCos also increased from N293.76 billion in March to N302.96 billion in April.
According to NERC, the value of electricity billed to customers rose to N252.43 billion in April, up from the N246.43 billion reported the previous month.
The DisCos recorded a collection efficiency of 80.66 percent, representing a 1.07 percentage-point increase from the 79.59 percent recorded in March.
NERC also said the industry’s billing efficiency stood at 83.32 percent in April, compared to 83.89 percent in the previous month.
According to the commission, the electricity distribution companies recorded a revenue recovery efficiency of 82.11 percent, with an average actual collection of N102.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), against an allowed average tariff of N124.39/kWh.
The report ranked Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) as the best-performing utility in terms of revenue recovery efficiency, posting 102.09 percent.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) followed with 89.77 percent, while Ikeja Electric recorded 88.89 percent.
NERC said the three utilities posted the highest revenue recovery efficiency among the country’s 11 electricity distribution companies in April.
