The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Reverend Cornelius Fawenu as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Bolakale Kawu, for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara.
The PDP described Fawenu as a leader with integrity, humility, compassion and proven leadership qualities, saying his nomination reflects the party’s commitment to presenting a competent and inclusive ticket for the election.
According to the party, Fawenu emerged after extensive consultations, deliberations and a rigorous selection process involving the governorship candidate and key stakeholders from the state’s three senatorial districts.
The party said the Kawu-Fawenu ticket combines experience, innovation, grassroots mobilization and religious balance, adding that it is confident the pair can provide purposeful leadership for Kwara State.
It further stated that the ticket represents the competence, integrity and inclusive leadership needed to address what it described as years of hardship, insecurity and governance challenges in the state while promoting sustainable development, economic growth, social justice and accountable governance.
The PDP also called on its members, supporters and residents of the state to unite behind the governorship ticket as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.
