The All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted a revised list of National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), replacing candidates for six senatorial districts and 19 House of Representatives constituencies following the outcome of its primary election appeal process.
Among those affected by the review are former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam and former House of Representatives member Gbenga Elegbeleye, whose names were omitted from the party’s final list forwarded to INEC.
The revised list, approved by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), also excludes 19 House of Representatives aspirants who had emerged from the party’s primary elections conducted in May 2026.
According to the party, the affected constituencies are spread across Abia, Kogi, Taraba, Benue, Ebonyi, Ondo, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara states.
In a letter addressed to INEC and jointly signed by APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the party said the changes followed recommendations made by its Primary Election Appeal Committee.
The letter, titled “Forwarding of Approved List of Senatorial and House of Representatives Candidates,” stated that the National Working Committee reviewed and approved the committee’s recommendations as the party’s final position on the affected constituencies.
It added that the revised list was submitted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended), and INEC’s regulations and guidelines.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno and Senator Adams Oshiomhole have received their Candidate Affidavit Forms (EC9) as part of the nomination process.
The APC also cleared four serving governors to contest Senate seats. They are Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
Other senatorial candidates cleared by the party include former Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Yero, Shehu Sani and Sunday Katung, while former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello secured the APC ticket for Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The party said the uploading of candidates’ particulars to the INEC nomination portal is ongoing following the ratification of its primary election results and the conclusion of the appeals process.
