Suspected robbers kill technician in Ondo

A robbery in the Shagari village area of Akure, Ondo State capital, has resulted in the death of a local technician identified as Idris Clement.

The 47-year-old father of five was reportedly killed after the hoodlums invaded the neighbourhood around 1 a.m. on Sunday, attacking residents and dispossessing them of their valuables.

Narrating the incident, one of the deceased’s sons, AbdulFatai Clement, said the robbers attacked his father with axes and cutlasses before one of them brought out a gun and shot him.

He disclosed further that the robbers fled immediately after he collapsed, and they had to rush him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he lost so much blood.

The doctors later confirmed him dead at the hospital.

The Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident to journalists.

He disclosed that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder and is currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCID) of the Command.

Jimoh assured the bereaved family and residents of the area that all those found culpable in the incident would face the full weight of the law.
