From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
The Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Hon. Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, has resigned.
In a resignation letter dated 5th May, 2026, made available to newsmen in Sokoto, the chairman also announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The letter was addressed to the  APC  Chairman of Kalanjeni Ward said, “I wish to formally inform you of my decision to resign from the APC with
immediate effect.
“This decision is borne out of purely personal reasons. I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be part of the party.”

In another letter dated 7th July, 2026 addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, and the Commissioner for

Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,

Kalanjeni said he has resigned as the elected chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area.

It reads,” “Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am resigning from my position as executive chairman, of Tangaza Local Government
effectively immediately from today.
“This Difficult decision has been reached after extensive consultations
with my family, key political associates, and community stakeholders.
“Due to recent unavoidable administrative challenges, I find that I am no
longer able to executive the responsibilities of this office to the high
standard expected of me.
“I am incredibly grateful to the electorate, the Council’s legislative arm,
and the entire staff for the privilege and opportunities to serve our
people. I wish the incoming leadership and administration continued success.”
