Crisis: Immigration Comptroller-General partners Nasarawa

Date:

From Gambo Ahmed, Lafia

The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), David Parradang, yesterday appealed to the Nasarawa state government to collaborate with the agency to enable officers monitor foreigners in the state.

Parradang, made the assertion at the Government House, Lafia, when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura even as he craved the indulgence of the governor to support the agency’s divisional offices across the local council areas to perform their duties of monitoring foreigners.

According to Parradang, “It will especially help the divisional officers at the grass root to forestall their (foreigners) involvement in any act inimical to national security interest and electoral malpractices.”

He also stated that Nasarawa state is a landlocked state, but the Immigration boss said emphatically that “the state’s proximity to Abuja makes it of utmost interest to the Nigeria Immigration Service, particularly with respect to statutory role of internal monitoring and control of their activities of foreigners within the security matrix of the nation.”

Governor Al-Makura responded by pledging his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the agency by way of detailing all the traditional rulers in the state to be proactive in the reporting of any envisaged foreigner in their respective domains to the immigration officers within their vicinity.

Al-Makura however assured the boss that his administration will not hesitate to assist the agency whenever they needed assistance from the state government.
