FG mourns former Qatari Emir, Sheikh Hamad

Nigerian Government has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Qatar’s former ruler, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who whose sad event occurred on Sunday, describing him as a visionary leader whose legacy transformed the Gulf nation.
In a press statement released in Abuja Sunday by the Nigerian Foreign Ministry, signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, it noted that, “Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed Nigeria’s condolences to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, and the people of Qatar over the loss.
The late Sheikh Hamad served as Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and was credited with spearheading the country’s rapid modernization, economic growth, and expanding international influence during his reign.
According to the statement, “His leadership, commitment to national development, and support for international cooperation earned him respect across the Gulf region and among global partners.
“His transformative contributions to the development and modernization of Qatar have left an indelible mark on the nation and the wider region,” it stated.
The Nigerian government said it stands in solidarity with Qatar during the period of mourning and prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Father Amir.
It also prayed for strength, patience, and comfort for the ruling Al Thani family and the people of Qatar as they grieve the loss of the former monarch.
