The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service, Dr Zaid Abubakar, has handed over the administration of the agency to the Senior Executive Director, Compliance and Enforcement Group, Malam Muhammad Abba Aliyu, following the expiration of his tenure.
The handover ceremony, held at the KIRS headquarters in Kano on Thursday, marked a smooth transition of leadership as staff and management witnessed the formal transfer of responsibilities.
A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Aisha Habib Maigiwa, and made available to journalists on Monday, said the transition reflected the agency’s commitment to institutional stability, continuity and good governance.
Speaking during the ceremony, Abubakar thanked the Kano State Government and the management of the Service for their support throughout his tenure.
He urged members of staff to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork and the collective vision of strengthening the state’s revenue administration.
“I appreciate the support and cooperation I received during my tenure. I encourage everyone to remain focused on the shared goal of building a stronger and more efficient revenue administration for Kano State,” he said.
In his remarks, Aliyu expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to ensure continuity in the administration of the Service.
He reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to sustain ongoing reforms and improve internally generated revenue to support the development of Kano State.
The statement added that the leadership transition would build on the achievements of the outgoing administration while reinforcing the Service’s mission of delivering efficient, transparent and people-centred tax administration.
