Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season after spending five months without a club.
According to a report by The Punch, the 30-year-old has rejoined the Chilli Boys following his departure from the club in February 2026.
His prolonged absence from competitive football affected his chances of maintaining a regular place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through the club’s official social media platforms.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club announced.
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club,” the club added.
Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 and established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading goalkeepers following his standout displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished runners-up.
After several months without club football, the shot-stopper will now aim to rebuild his form through regular first-team action and work his way back into the Super Eagles squad ahead of future international assignments.
