Following a decisive victory at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kaduna State Chapter has officially called for immediate, total compliance with the judicial ruling.
The court’s judgment firmly reinstates the legitimacy of the duly elected State Working Committee (SWC) and Nullifies all parallel factional structures.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna, the State Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, declared that the ruling clears the path for a unified party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a 2-1 majority judgment, the Court of Appeal upheld a Federal High Court order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing any state congresses, activities, or leadership structures emerging from unauthorized April congresses.
“The position affirmed by the Court is absolute: only the constitutionally recognized, duly elected State Executive Committees have the authority to conduct party congresses.
“Any parallel processes conducted outside this framework are legally void,”Hon. Mustapha stated.
The legitimate leadership has outlined three immediate directives following the landmark ruling.
The ADC urges all members who previously aligned with factional groups to respect the court’s decision and return to the authentic, legacy leadership.
The party emphasizes that the goal is unity and constitutional order, not exclusion.
It noted that individuals continuing to claim leadership positions in defiance of the Court of Appeal ruling are advised to cease and desist.
The authentic leadership warns that continued violations will be met with all necessary legal measures to protect the party’s constitution and stability.
It added that the current leadership, elected for the 2022–2026 tenure, remains fully intact and dedicated to rebuilding a strong, inclusive political platform open to all law-abiding members.
Chairman Mustapha emphasized that this legal victory should not be used for further division, but rather as a catalyst for reconciliation.
He urged all Kaduna ADC members to “come back home” and help build a disciplined political movement capable of winning the trust of Kaduna voters.
Additionally, the Kaduna State Chapter reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the national leadership of the ADC, led by Senator David Bonaventure Mark, pledging to work hand-in-hand with national stakeholders to position the party for victory in 2027.
