FUDMA Expels One, Rusticates 66 Students

The Senate of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), has approved the expulsion of one student for gross misconduct and the rustication of 66 others for examination malpractices during the second semester examination conducted in May, 2026.
The decision to expel and rusticate the affected students followed the consideration of the report of the Committee on Examination Misconduct, which recommended the punitive measures after the affected students were given the opportunity to defend themselves.
The report of the Committee was subsequently ratified during the 140th Regular Senate meeting held on Thursday, 16 July, 2026 at the FUDMA Main campus, chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the decision is in line with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3c of the University’s Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconducts.
Prof. Othman reiterated the commitment of his administration to make FUDMA better than how he met it by safeguarding its image and ensuring strict compliance to the laws and regulations of the university.
He warned that anyone found to have contravened the law would be punished without compromise.

He said the management under him would continue to ensure absolute adherence to the rule of law in all ramifications, so as to boost the integrity of the university among its counterparts in the country.
Prof. Othman said right from the onset, he had categorically stated that his administration “will not condone indiscipline and immorality”, thus making discipline one of his cardinal agenda.
Other decisions taken at the Senate meeting include the approval of the 2026/2027 Academic Calendar of the university, with the First Semester expected to commence from 30th August 2026 to 28th December, 2026.
Prof. Othman stated that the Senate’s decision was to allow the students to exercise their franchise by being in their respective towns and villages to partake in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that nine Faculties would move to the university’s main campus in the next academic session.
“The Management is doing everything humanly possible to make the Main campus conducive for teaching, learning and research through the provision of maximum security and assorted amenities, to make it comfortable to members of the University community.
“You will agree with me that the Take-off campus is overcrowded, hence the need for the movement of the Faculties to the Main campus.
“Going to the Main campus to work is not optional, but mandatory to all staff to comply with the directive”, he said.
He said a 100-seater CNG bus will soon be procured to be shuttling staff between the two campuses, free of charge.
Prof. Othman also said the various staff unions in the university are also making concerted efforts to complement the efforts of the management towards enhancing the wellbeing of members of the FUDMA community.
He said, “FUDMA, being an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) driven University, finds it expedient to key into the Blackboard Management Learning System which is a modern method of imparting knowledge aided by technology and embedded with ample educational resources for academic excellence.”
The Senate further ratified an approval made by the university management for the establishment of the Centre for Hausa Language, History, Monument and Culture.
The centre will serve as a research hub on the evolution, impact, growth and development of the language not only in Hausa land, but across Nigeria, Africa and the World at large.
The meeting also ratified the Second Semester examination results for the College of Postgraduate Studies of the University.
