The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has warned candidates participating in its 2026/2027 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) Aptitude Test to strictly comply with all examination guidelines, cautioning that any form of malpractice or violation could result in disqualification and other disciplinary measures.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the University’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs Abosede Wickliffe.
According to the statement, the online Post-UTME Aptitude Test will be conducted from July 27 to July 31, 2026, under remotely proctored examination conditions.
Mrs Wickliffe said candidates are required to use only laptops with built-in webcams and microphones throughout the examination. She added that the use of mobile phones, tablets, external webcams, smart glasses, headphones and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited.
The Registrar also directed candidates to remain alone in a quiet and well-lit environment throughout the 30-minute examination, warning that speaking, reading questions aloud or allowing unauthorised persons into the examination area would be treated as examination misconduct.
She advised candidates to ensure they have stable internet connectivity and uninterrupted electricity supply, noting that the university would not be responsible for disruptions arising from power outages, network failures or other technical issues beyond its control.
Candidates experiencing technical challenges during the examination were advised to immediately use the “Need Help?” feature available on the examination platform.
The university further announced that participation in the mock examination, available until July 25, 2026, is mandatory for all candidates. According to the Registrar, the mock exercise is designed to test device compatibility, internet connectivity, webcam functionality and overall system readiness.
She explained that the Safe Examination Browser is compatible only with Windows 10 or later and macOS Ventura or later operating systems. Candidates were also encouraged to use the same laptop, internet connection and examination environment for both the mock and the main examination.
Mrs Wickliffe warned candidates against dealing with unauthorised individuals, cybercafés, business centres or Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres claiming affiliation with the university, stressing that the aptitude test will be conducted exclusively online from locations chosen by candidates.
She further clarified that the only approved screening fee is ₦5,500, comprising ₦2,000 as the application fee and ₦3,500 as the administrative fee.
The Registrar urged applicants to obtain information solely through the university’s official communication channels and warned that fraud, impersonation, unauthorised assistance and other forms of examination malpractice could lead to the cancellation of applications or examination results.
She reiterated that all decisions relating to the conduct and outcome of the 2026/2027 UNILAG Post-UTME Aptitude Test shall remain final and binding.
