The African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has unveiled Bello Ambarura, the lawmaker representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the party’s Sokoto State Publicity Secretary, Lamir Aminu, who disclosed that Ambarura will be the running mate to the ADC governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya.
According to the party, the nomination followed wide-ranging consultations and was made in compliance with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The ADC said the choice of Ambarura reflects its determination to present a capable and credible leadership team that can provide effective governance for the people of Sokoto State.
Highlighting his credentials, the party noted that Ambarura built a distinguished career in the Sokoto State Civil Service, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary before serving as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.
It added that he was elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly in 2019, where he served as Majority Leader until 2023, before securing election to the House of Representatives to represent Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency.
The party expressed confidence that Ambarura’s administrative and legislative experience would complement the leadership of governorship candidate Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya and strengthen the ADC’s campaign ahead of the 2027 governorship poll in Sokoto State.
