The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has suffered a setback in Gombe State following the resignation of its former state chairman and current state auditor, Danladi Ya’u, who has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ya’u announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the ADC ward chairmen of Kwado, Kiji and Kurba, saying his resignation takes immediate effect.
Explaining his decision, the former ADC chieftain said he joined the PDP to support the governorship ambition of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, ahead of the 2027 election.
In the letter, Ya’u stated that he was resigning both his party membership and his position as the ADC’s state auditor.
“I hereby formally resign from my position as the former State Chairman and currently serving as State Auditor of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Gombe State Chapter, and also resign my membership of the party with immediate effect.
“I have defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to support the candidature of Prof. Isa Ali Pantami in the 2027 governorship race,” he wrote.
The development comes as political realignments continue to gather momentum in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
