A former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Armayau Abubakar, has urged opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, to throw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the opposition lacks the strength to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in Abuja , Abubakar, who serves as a Federal Character Commission commissioner, said the APC has established overwhelming political dominance across the country, making the opposition ineffective ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to him, the ruling party controls a majority of governors, members of the National Assembly and state lawmakers, a development he said reflects broad national support for President Tinubu.
Abubakar maintained that the administration’s achievements have made it difficult for opposition parties to present a compelling alternative, calling on them to join the APC instead of remaining divided.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure a second term, insisting the opposition lacks the structure and momentum to mount a serious electoral challenge.
In a similar vein, APC women’s advocate and National Women Leader of the Renewed Hope People Advocacy, Dayo Fasola, described the opposition as virtually non-existent.
Fasola said the absence of a coordinated opposition has made the campaign for President Tinubu’s re-election considerably easier.
She argued that opposition parties have failed to organize themselves into a credible political force capable of providing meaningful competition ahead of the 2027 polls.
Both APC figures expressed optimism that the ruling party would retain power, citing its growing political influence and what they described as the disarray within opposition ranks.
