Gombe ranks among Nigeria’s best-performing states in 2026 governance assessment

Gombe State has once again earned national recognition for excellence in public service delivery, ranking among Nigeria’s top subnational governments in the 2026 PCL State Performance Index (pSPI).
The independent evaluation placed Gombe 4th overall in citizen satisfaction – scoring 3.47 out of 5 and 6th nationally on the momentum index, reflecting strong public confidence in the administration of governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The index crowned Gombe as Nigeria’s top-performing state for road infrastructure, while also placing it among the nation’s leaders in security, healthcare delivery, and environmental cleanliness.
In particular, the state is identified as the primary economic driver for the North-East region’s overall development trajectory.
Describing the state as a “fast-growing commercial hub,” the report credited Gombe’s performance to fiscal prudence, a business-friendly policy framework, and targeted capital investments.
“This latest ranking adds to the growing body of independent assessments validating the transformational strides recorded under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
“It reaffirms our reputation as a model for purposeful leadership and sustainable development,” said Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at Government House, Gombe.
