Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has nominated the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Mr. Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, as his running mate for the 2027 Kaduna State governorship election.

The governor announced the nomination on Tuesday, stating that the choice reflects his administration’s “enduring commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness, and equitable representation.”

Describing Adams as an accomplished public servant, institution builder, and respected tax administrator, Governor Sani said his leadership at KADIRS has strengthened Kaduna State’s fiscal capacity and enhanced its ability to fund development projects without overburdening citizens.

“Mr. Jerry Adams has demonstrated competence, integrity, and a deep understanding of public finance. His work has positioned KADIRS as one of the most efficient revenue agencies in the country,” the governor said.

Governor Sani noted that the nomination reinforces his vision of a united, peaceful, and prosperous Kaduna State, where merit, competence, and character remain the foundation of leadership and where every citizen has a genuine sense of belonging.

Since assuming office, the governor has consistently pursued an inclusive style of governance aimed at bridging divisions across religious, ethnic, and senatorial lines.

His administration has prioritised appointments based on competence, expanded social investment programmes, and deepened engagement with community, religious, and civil society leaders to promote peace in conflict-affected areas of the state.

Governor Sani has also focused on fiscal discipline and increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to reduce dependence on federal allocations, a policy drive spearheaded by KADIRS under Adams’ leadership.

Political observers say the nomination of Adams, a technocrat with strong credentials in revenue mobilisation and public administration, signals the administration’s intention to consolidate its economic reforms while maintaining its broad-based and inclusive political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor added that, with Adams on the ticket, his administration would continue to pursue policies that promote equitable development across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.

“This decision reinforces our belief that leadership must be about service, unity, and the common good of all Kaduna people, regardless of their background,” he said.
