OSUN GUBER: Massive Defeat Awaits APC, Imole Campaign Council Replies National Chairman

Date:

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has dismissed the claim by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, that the party’s deployment of governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen and other political heavyweights will guarantee victory in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The Council described the APC chairman’s “trailer versus Keke Napep” analogy as a display of political arrogance, insisting that the ruling party has misread the political mood in Osun State.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Rep. Bamidele Salam, the Campaign Council maintained that elections are decided by voters, not by the number of political office holders a party can assemble.
“The people of Osun State are not waiting for political heavyweights from outside the state to determine their future. They are capable of making their own independent choice based on the performance of the government in power,” the statement said.
According to the Council, the August 15 governorship poll will be a contest between Governor Ademola Adeleke’s record in office and the APC candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, whom it described as lacking widespread acceptance among the electorate.
It argued that Governor Adeleke has earned the goodwill of the people through achievements in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, water supply, agriculture and youth empowerment.
The Council further claimed that the APC’s reliance on governors and other political leaders from outside Osun reflects what it described as the inability of its governorship candidate to mobilise support independently.
It challenged the APC to campaign on policies and programmes rather than what it called “political metaphors and external mobilisation.”
The Campaign Council urged the opposition party to respect the intelligence of the Osun electorate by presenting credible alternatives instead of relying on political structures and high-profile endorsements.
