President of National Association of Proprietors of private schools in Bauchi state Mr. Austin Losa, has said that the association has procured infra-red thermometers as part of preventive measures to contain Ebola virus in private schools. The President who disclosed this to news men at the weekend in the state said in view of the federal government directive that all primary and secondary schools should resume academic activities on the 22nd of September 2014, the association decided to take preventive measures that will safeguard the lives of students in private schools. According to him, apart from measuring body temperature of the every student before they enter the school premises, they will also wash their hands at the schools’ gate to promote hygiene culture among the students.
Federal government had earlier promised to donate Ebola virus testing kits to schools, but it is yet to deliver the items. So, as a preventive measure, the association decided to buy only the infra-red thermometers for distribution to all private schools in the state. “The federal ministry of education has also directed that all states ministries of health collaborate with the states ministries of education to organise a workshop whereby two teachers from each school will undergo training on Ebola virus.
“The training will soon commence in the state and all the teachers that will receive the training will be given Ebola testing kits for their various schools” He said. The President, who stressed that the effort of the government was geared towards preventing any outbreak of the virus in the state, commended
