Wamakko Begins Renovation of Two Historic Schools in Sokoto North

Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has commenced the comprehensive renovation of two historic educational institutions in his constituency.

The intervention is aimed at improving educational infrastructure and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning across the senatorial district.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bashar Abubakar, on Thursday in Sokoto, the benefiting institutions are Sokoto Science College, popularly known as Sokoto Teachers’ College, and Magajin Gari Model Primary School in the Assada area of Sokoto metropolis.

The two schools have played significant roles in the educational development of Sokoto State, producing generations of prominent Nigerians, including Senator Wamakko.

Speaking during an inspection of the project sites, the Permanent Secretary and Overseer of the Senatorial Zone Administration Office, Alhaji Almustapha Abubakar Alkali, described the renovation as a major investment in human capital development.

Alkali said the initiative would complement the efforts of the Sokoto State Government to improve the education sector while preserving the historical significance of the institutions.

He urged the contractors handling the projects to ensure that the renovation works met the required standards and were delivered within specifications.

Representatives of the contracting firms, Benex Projects Limited and Elizaxbleet Nigeria Limited, confirmed that the project sites had been formally handed over to them.

They assured that the renovation works would be executed in line with approved specifications and quality standards.

Also speaking, Engineer Zayyanu Mustapha Alkanchi of the Sokoto State Ministry of Education stressed the importance of delivering durable and high-quality facilities that would serve both current and future generations of students.

The heads of the two schools and the Ward Head of Assada expressed appreciation to Senator Wamakko for the intervention, describing it as a significant contribution to the development of education in Sokoto North Senatorial District and the state.
