Lecturer tasks journalists on development journalism

Senior Lecturer with the Department of Mass Communication, Kaduna Polytechnic, Balarabe Sa’id has tasked Nigerian journalists to imbibe the culture of development journalism.
He explained that development journalism is the solution to problems that bedeviling the citizens particularly those living in rural communities.
The lecturers disclosed this while presenting a paper titled ‘Evolving Community and Security Synergy in the Oil and Gas Industry at a Two day Workshop organised by Kaduna Refinery PatrolChemicals Company KRPC held in Kano.
“Every journalist is trained to be a developmental journalists but many abandoned it. So, I think journalists need to embark on this form of journalism for the development of this country, especially rural communities,” he said.
Balarabe added that good governance is what the people seek from government and journalists can take lead in advocating good governance in the country.
The lecturer further appealed to media practitioners to always abide by the ethics of the profession.
He equally warned Media practitioners against circulating fake news.
