National Hydro-electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has distributed building materials worth more than fifty million naira to the victims of banditry attacks in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the N-HYPPADEC Head, Press and Public Affairs, Tanko Nura Wakili.
It explained that the Managing Director Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa made this known during the official flag off ceremony of the distribution of relief materials to b ictims of Banditry Attacks in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state.
the statement added that he Managing Director, who sympatized with the affected victims announced that the intervention was based on request and complaint for building materials to includes: 600 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,000 bags of cement, 60 bags of wood nails, 300 package of roofing nails.
He applauded the Niger state government led by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his consistent support and interventions to the citizens in terms of need.
He warned residents especially those living along riverine areas and flood prone areas to be aware of heavy rain expectations and clear the drainages not waiting for government, so as to avoid anticipated flooding in their communities.
According to him, a 35 passengers boat was brought to Borgu stationed at Musawa village for usage, urging them to make use of it judiciously.
Also, he advised residents to avoid using old canoes for waterways transportation, overloading and obey waterways regulations to avoid mishaps.
He thanked the Emir of Borgu Barrister Haliru Jikantoro Kitoro, the second for his support, successful implementation of N-HYPPADEC programmes and activities in his domain.
He explained that ongoing 22 housing units for Fakun community will get additional five making it 27 housing units and appreciated the level of work on the site.
The Emir of Borgu Barrister Haliru Jikantoro Kitoro,who thanked the commission’s leadership for its foresight and interventions to the plight of his people, urged youths to desist from unnecessary social media propaganda that is detrimental to the area especially on the current security challenges bedeviling the Emirate.
The royal father assured to ensure direct supervision of the distribution of the relief materials to ensure fairness and that the actual victims benefit from the interventions while he sympathized with all the victims and assured them it will soon be a thing of the past.
Also speaking, the chairman Borgu Local Government Alhaji Mohammed Nasiru Abdullahi who further appreciated the N-HYPPADEC for all its activities and programmes in the council, reassured to partner with the Emirate to enhance seamless distribution of the donated building materials to the affected victims.

Babanna District Head Alhaji Zakari Yaro thanked the commission’s intervention and support to the Emirate and the local government council, adding that 21 villages out of 52 communities were affected in his domain alone.
