The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has formally presented Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election, completing the party’s ticket ahead of the poll.
Wambai, the Madakin Mubi and a native of northern Adamawa, will run alongside the PDP’s governorship candidate, Chief Mauris Vunobolki, who hails from Numan in the southern part of the state.
The unveiling comes days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Vunobolki as the party’s governorship candidate by uploading his name to its nomination portal.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Wambai is known for his background in public administration and education. Party leaders described his emergence as a strategic addition expected to strengthen the PDP’s chances in the 2027 governorship race.
The unveiling ceremony attracted party executives and stakeholders, signaling the beginning of the party’s intensified campaign preparations across the state.
With the announcement, the PDP becomes the first political party in Adamawa State to officially unveil its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Although the All Progressives Congress (APC) has already named Adamu Kamale as its deputy governorship candidate, the party is yet to formally present him to the public.
