No fewer than 20 people were feared killed, with many others injured, in renewed communal clash in Tunari village, Wukari local government area of Taraba state.

This latest clash comes even as the residents await the return of the ailing Governor, Danbaba Suntai.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident started at about 10 a.m. yesterday morning, when some gunmen, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, invaded the village from the neighboring Plateau state.

President of a group, the Youth of Vision, Wukari, Mr. Tsa-asen L. Agbu, told newsmen that the attackers struck when several residents of the village went for Sunday service.

He wondered why the attackers would continue to kill and maim people, adding that both the current leadership of the state and top security personnel were aware of the incessant attacks, but intentionally decided to do nothing about it.

He expressed regret that the attackers, said to have numbered over 300, targeted only Jukun, prompting a lot of them to relocate to other areas.

Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relation Officer, Joseph Kwaji, said there was an attack, but was unable to confirm the number of casualties, as the authentic figures were yet to be made available to the command as at the time of filing this report.
