The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has acknowledged the submission of the presidential nomination documents of Aare Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje, who is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA).
According to documents submitted to INEC ahead of the 2027 general elections, Omo-Aje formally declared his intention to contest for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and affirmed that the information contained in his nomination form is true and accurate to the best of his knowledge.
The nomination form, labelled PR/01 and received by INEC, lists his constituency as Nigeria and indicates his Action Alliance membership number as AA488557.
Born on January 15, 1955, the 71-year-old politician wrote his name in block letters as RUFAI ADEKUNLE OMO-AJE. He is widely known as Aare Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje.
A politician and businessman from Ede, Osun State, Omo-Aje has been described by his supporters as a leader with “a vision of Nigeria that must work for all.”
He also serves as the National Chairman of the Action Alliance, placing him at the centre of the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Aje emerged as the Action Alliance’s presidential candidate through a consensus arrangement during the party’s presidential primary held in Abuja on Saturday.
Delegates at the primary ratified his candidacy after party officials described the exercise as peaceful and rancour-free, saying the process was designed to foster unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday, Omo-Aje assured Nigerians that an Action Alliance-led administration would prioritise economic recovery and national security.
He pledged to strengthen the nation’s economy and tackle insecurity across the country if elected president.
The Action Alliance candidate said his administration would implement policies aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, including job creation, infrastructure development, and the strengthening of public institutions.
Political observers say Omo-Aje’s emergence has added another name to the growing list of aspirants expected to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party officials expressed confidence that Omo-Aje’s experience in business and party leadership would help promote the Action Alliance’s message of inclusive governance as preparations for the election gather momentum.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 polls, attention is expected to focus on how the Action Alliance positions itself as an alternative to Nigeria’s major political parties.
