A coordinated security operation led by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has resulted in the rescue of 308 kidnapped victims in Kwara and Niger states, following a joint mission involving multiple security agencies.
Security sources disclosed on Wednesday that the operation was carried out by a combined team of personnel from the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies.
According to the source, the coordinated operation was conducted simultaneously across the two states, making it one of the largest and most successful rescue missions in recent times.
The source revealed that 163 victims were rescued from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 victims were rescued from various locations in Niger State, bringing the total number of rescued victims to 308.
The rescued victims have since been evacuated to the Military Medical Facility at Wawa Cantonment in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State, where they are receiving medical attention and other necessary support.
Security authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the operation. However, the successful rescue underscores the growing collaboration among Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes across the country.
The operation is expected to provide further momentum to the Federal Government’s efforts to improve public safety and strengthen coordinated responses to security threats nationwide.
