Troops of Sector 7 under Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a Fulani youth leader, Zakari Yahu Adamu, over his alleged involvement in the recent terrorist attack on Naridon Community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to security sources, the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday at Fadan Chanwe in Kauru LGA following intelligence-led investigations into the attack.
A security source said Adamu, who serves as a Fulani youth leader in the area, is being investigated for his alleged connection to the attack on Naridon Community.
The attack reportedly claimed several lives, left many others injured, and destroyed houses and farmlands. Residents said the attackers stormed the community in the early hours, opened fire indiscriminately, and forced villagers to flee into nearby bushes.
The incident has heightened security concerns in Kauru and surrounding communities, which have experienced recurring cases of banditry and communal violence.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect remains in custody while investigators work to determine his level of involvement and identify other individuals linked to the attack.
They added that the arrest is part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by Operation Enduring Peace aimed at tracking down perpetrators of violent attacks and improving security across affected communities in Kaduna State.
Military authorities have also intensified patrols and surveillance around Naridon and neighbouring communities to prevent further attacks and support the safe return of displaced residents.
Community leaders have urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims while calling on residents to provide credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
The Kaduna State Government has condemned the attack and reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies to restore peace and safeguard lives and property across the state.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, while the suspect remains in military custody.
