The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-day visit to Taraba State with the commissioning of the party’s newly completed state secretariat and ALGON House in Jalingo.

The visit, which coincides with activities marking Yilwatda’s 58th birthday, also featured the flag-off of a free medical outreach across Taraba State’s three senatorial districts.

Yilwatda was received in Jalingo by a large crowd before proceeding to the Government House, where he was hosted by Governor Agbu Kefas.

Speaking after the commissioning and medical outreach flag-off, the APC national chairman expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the people of Taraba.

> “The warmth, love and hospitality of the people of Taraba have left a lasting impression on me. I am particularly grateful to the Governor for partnering with us to provide medical support across the three senatorial districts.”

Yilwatda said the APC’s activities in Taraba were not limited to political mobilisation, stressing that the party was also focused on improving the welfare of Nigerians at the grassroots.

He said the free medical outreach was designed to provide support to families facing healthcare challenges and restore hope among vulnerable communities.

> “We are not only here to canvass for votes; we are here to touch lives. We are here to restore hope to poor families and to help revive dreams that have been interrupted by medical challenges.”

According to him, the intervention reflects what he described as the “human face” of the APC and the party’s commitment to grassroots development.

Yilwatda disclosed that the APC had distributed grants and equipment worth more than N1 billion through various interventions.

> “In our party, for every vote we seek, we must also seek the wellbeing and good health of the people,” he said.

Yilwatda Commends Kefas, Tinubu

The APC national chairman also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for embracing the party and working with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said federal government projects, particularly road infrastructure, were increasingly becoming visible in Taraba State and would help improve commerce, connectivity and social cohesion.

Yilwatda expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s economic agenda, including the vision of building a $1 trillion economy, would create greater opportunities for Taraba State.

> “I look forward to Taraba benefiting from these transformative projects and seeing its farmers and young people connected to new opportunities. Truly, this is the best birthday I have ever had,” he stated.

Kefas Pledges Taraba Support for Tinubu

Responding, Governor Agbu Kefas welcomed the APC national chairman to Taraba and expressed confidence in the growing strength of the party in the state.

Kefas assured Yilwatda that Taraba would support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election, declaring that the state was now an APC state.

The governor’s declaration further underscored the growing political alignment between the Taraba State Government and the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
