China pledges RMB 200 million for Nigeria’s dev’t, economic growth

The People’s Republic of China has promised to provide RMB 200 million in grant assistance to further support Nigeria’s national development and economic growth.

This was made known by Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Yu Dunhai Thursday in Abuja when he met with Permanent Secretary of Nigerian Foreign Ministry, Dr. Dunoma Umar Ahmed.

Speaking during the event, Amb. Yu said that, over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria, bilateral relations have consistently remained at the forefront of China-Africa relations.

He noted that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has entered a new stage of high-quality development.

Continuing, he said that China and Nigeria have maintained close communication and coordination, working together to implement the common understandings reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit, and to ensure that more cooperation outcomes benefit the peoples of both countries.

He informed that China will provide RMB 200 million in grant assistance to Nigeria for the implementation of projects agreed upon by the two governments and to further support Nigeria’s national development and economic growth.

Thanking China for the kind gesture and its concrete support for Nigeria’s economic and social development, Permanent Secretary of Nigerian Foreign Ministry, Dr. Dunoma Umar Ahmed said the grant assistance fully demonstrates China’s sense of responsibility as a major country and reflects the deep friendship between Nigeria and China.

He assured that Nigeria will make effective use of the grant assistance, work with China to implement the common understandings on bilateral cooperation reached by the two governments, and further advance Nigeria-China friendship, bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
