PTAD pays N3.82bn pension arrears to 30,356 retirees

Date:

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has disbursed N3.82bn in pension arrears to 30,356 Defined Benefit Scheme pensioners.

The payment covers pensioners under the Parastatals Pension Department, Defunct and Transferred Agencies Pension Department, and Tertiary, Education and Health Pension Department.

PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He said the payment followed the Back-End Computation Review Exercise conducted by the agency to address complaints over pension computations and outstanding entitlements.

Ajayi said the disbursement was part of PTAD’s efforts to settle verified pension obligations and improve the welfare of retirees under the scheme.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, thanked the affected pensioners for their cooperation throughout the review process.

Odunaiya reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that verified pension entitlements were paid promptly and transparently.

She said the latest payment reflected the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to resolving pension-related challenges and strengthening pension administration under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

She added that PTAD would continue to engage pensioners and address complaints relating to their entitlements.

The agency also pledged to maintain what it described as efficient, transparent and accountable pension administration for DBS pensioners.
