Geregu Power Plc has announced the full settlement of its outstanding bond obligations, reassuring investors, trustees and other stakeholders of the company’s strong commitment to financial discipline and corporate responsibility.
The company disclosed on Wednesday that payment relating to its bond obligations was made in full on August 19, 2026, a move seen as a major confidence booster for bondholders and the Nigerian capital market.
Geregu said the payment underscores its dedication to preserving shareholder value while maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance. The company noted that the decision reflects the Board’s unwavering commitment to meeting all financial obligations promptly and responsibly.
Speaking on the development, Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari (Marafan Sokoto), assured bondholders and trustees that the company remains focused on protecting their interests.
According to him, the Board is fully committed to honouring all obligations owed to bondholders and trustees, adding that the payment was effected in line with the company’s responsibilities. He emphasized that every necessary step is being taken to safeguard the interests of both bondholders and shareholders.
The company also addressed concerns surrounding certain legacy administrative issues inherited from previous management structures, explaining that it is engaging constructively with relevant parties to resolve them. Geregu stressed that these matters have no impact whatsoever on its ability to meet its bond obligations.
In a further show of confidence, Senator Yari reiterated the Board’s support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly efforts aimed at transforming Nigeria’s power sector. He reaffirmed Geregu Power’s commitment to contributing to national development through reliable electricity generation and sustainable energy solutions.
The company disclosed that it will issue a formal confirmation of settlement upon completion of the payment process and pledged to keep bondholders, trustees and stakeholders updated on any material developments.
As one of Nigeria’s leading power generation companies, Geregu Power Plc said it remains committed to delivering efficient and sustainable energy solutions that support economic growth and national development.
Analysts say the successful bond payment sends a strong signal to investors about the company’s financial stability and reinforces confidence in its ability to meet future obligations while playing a critical role in Nigeria’s energy sector.
