2027: Ensure victory for Tinubu in your Wards, LGs, States, Wike charges stakeholders

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has charged political stakeholders and grassroots actors across the country to focus their efforts on securing electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the ward, local government, and state levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on strategic political alignments, Wike emphasized that national presidential campaign titles, such as Director-General (DG), mean little if political leaders fail to deliver victory for the President in their home bases.

Reflecting on past election cycles, Wike cited examples of previous campaign directors-general across major parties who lost their states during presidential polls.

He noted that true political strength lies in local mobilization rather than national campaign council appointments.

“Every politics is local. If you cannot deliver the President in your state, how will you say you want an election?

“So everything—the whole battle line—is about the state. It is not about being a member of the campaign council. What is important is that you are able to deliver,” he stated.

Explaining his political strategy, Wike pointed to the emergence of cross-party political mechanics which he described as a “Rainbow Coalition” where political actors across various party platforms, including the PDP’s G5 structure, unite at the state and grassroots levels to build electoral momentum for President Tinubu.

He clarified that while he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, he remains fully committed to directing operations in his key political bases.

“We don’t need to be members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council; we are doing our own work.

“I am the one that is in charge of Rivers State, and I am also the one in charge of the FCT,” Wike declared, calling on stakeholders across various states to take full ownership of their wards and local government areas to ensure complete electoral success in 2027.
