The APC Professionals Forum has revealed that Nigeria generated over N15 trillion in revenue following the removal of the petrol subsidy by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at a policy roundtable titled Dissecting the Renewed Hope Deliverables & Achievements, Forum Chairman and former Governor Dr. Isa Yuguda stated that the policy has expanded fiscal resources across federal, state, and local governments, making it easier for all tiers to meet critical obligations.
Yuguda highlighted that the roundtable was organized to evaluate the administration’s progress and foster constructive, facts-based conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Over N15 trillion in public funds have been saved and redirected to critical sectors, including education, security, infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare,” the Forum stated.
Recalling his tenure as Chairman of the Fuel Subsidy Task Force in 2009, Yuguda noted that previous investigations exposed massive fraud, systemic corruption, and severe financial leakages within the old subsidy regime.
He commended President Tinubu for showing the political will to enact long-overdue reforms.
Yuguda cautioned Nigerians against accepting promises from opposition figures, specifically referencing African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential aspirant Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s pledge to restore the subsidy.
He warned that reinstating the old framework without addressing its underlying corruption risks misleading the public and erasing recent fiscal gains.
Yuguda emphasized that the APC Professionals Forum will continue serving as a bridge between the government and the populace, ensuring future political choices remain grounded in long-term economic sustainability and verifiable achievements.
