Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has revealed that the state’s evolving peace and security strategy is deeply anchored in faith, culture, and sustained community dialogue — a deliberate shift from combative approaches to grassroots-driven solutions.
He made the disclosure while chairing the “Inter-Religious Dialogue on Peace, Unity and Security” organised by the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna.
According to the Governor, Kaduna’s peace gains over the last two years are closely linked to the strong moral authority of religious and traditional leaders who continue to guide and stabilise communities in difficult times.
“We are investing in the Kaduna Peace Model not just as a policy, but as a value system rooted in the wisdom of our clerics, the cultural influence of our royal fathers, and the collective aspirations of our people,” he said.
Uba Sani noted that while security agencies remain vital, they cannot succeed without the trust, prayers, and support of community gatekeepers. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to institutionalising dialogue and inclusive governance as key pillars of sustainable peace.
The event drew influential Islamic and Christian clerics, emirs, chiefs, and stakeholders from across and beyond the state, who commended the Governor’s consultative leadership style. They pledged to continue partnering with the government to make Kaduna an “oasis of peace” in a nation grappling with insecurity.
Participants praised the Kaduna Peace Model, now gaining national attention, for integrating religious institutions, cultural structures, and civil society into formal peacebuilding processes. Some states, they noted, are beginning to replicate elements of the model.
Governor Uba Sani used the occasion to provide updates on his administration’s performance in agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, and security, while urging continued interfaith unity and vigilance.
The Governor concluded with a call for shared responsibility: “We must not let up. Peace is not an event — it is a daily commitment. And in Kaduna, we are committed to walking that path together.”
