The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Senator Abubakar Tutare, has pledged to prioritise rural development, basic infrastructure and agro-allied industries if elected governor.

Sen. Tutare made this known while unveiling Barrister Harua Kwetishe as his running mate, saying they would work together to execute people-oriented development projects for the benefit of all Tarabans.

Senator Tutare explained that the focus of his administration would be to harness Taraba’s agricultural potential and improve the welfare of rural communities that have suffered neglect over the years.

He noted that rural areas hold the key to the state’s economic growth and promised to invest in roads, water, healthcare facilities and processing industries that would add value to agricultural produce.

The ADC candidate also used the opportunity to caution the electorate against the politics of religion and tribalism, which he described as the root causes of the state’s underdevelopment.

“My agenda is for the unity of the Taraba people and infrastructural development to advance the welfare of the people of the state, who are suffering because of years of mismanagement of resources.

“It is very important for us, as a people, to reject the politics of religion and tribalism, which are the root causes of Taraba’s underdevelopment.

“It is sad to note that those elected into power in the state hide under religion and tribalism to steal funds meant for the development of our state. The electorate should reject such politicians,” he said.
