Sultan Condoles Hotpen Publisher, Dangida over Wife’s Death
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has condoled with the family of Mallam Aliyu Dangida, Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Hotpen Newspaper and Mahangar Arewa Magazine, Kano, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Maryam Abdullahi Gote.
Hajiya Maryam died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Arewa Surgery, Kano, following complications related to a heart condition.
In a condolence message, the Sultan described Mallam Aliyu Dangida as one of the highly effective members representing the North-West on his Media Team.
He expressed sadness over the death, noting that the deceased had been a source of strength and support to her husband, whose contributions to the media and public discourse in Nigeria remained valuable.
The Sultan said the loss was particularly painful because Hajiya Maryam’s wise counsel and support had been instrumental to her husband’s work at a time when her presence and guidance were greatly needed.
“We are sad, but because Allah is the One who gives and takes life, we can only praise Him and beseech Him to forgive Hajiya Maryam Gote’s shortcomings and admit her gentle soul into Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Amiin,” he prayed.
His Eminence urged Mallam Aliyu Dangida and the bereaved family to take solace in Allah and accept the death as an act of divine decree.
He prayed Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
