Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dislodged several terrorists and recovered high-caliber weapons and operational motorcycles in Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
According to a statement released Sunday, by Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the mission forms part of sustained offensive operations to eliminate terrorist strongholds across the region.
During the mission, troops swept through threat enclaves across the Manu, Alkasim, and Kandam villages, as well as the Magarya forest axis.
It revealed that upon making contact in the Magarya forest enclave, military forces engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat deeper into the forest.
It added that a follow-up search of the area resulted in the recovery of key arms, ammunition, and mobility assets, including: one PKT machine gun and AK-47 rifles, a large cache of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition motorcycles and various logistical items.
Lt.-Col. Danja noted that troops remain in control of the general area, maintaining a strong operational posture to guarantee the security of surrounding communities.
