The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has said its campaign for the 2027 election will be centered on the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration rather than fresh promises or personal attacks against political opponents.

The Director-General of the campaign council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, disclosed this in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Thursday after a closed-door meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal and traditional rulers in the state.

Yari said the APC would focus on presenting the policies and accomplishments of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians as the party seeks another mandate in 2027.

According to him, the country has passed through periods of serious political and social challenges, but Nigerians have continued to demonstrate their commitment to keeping the country united.

“Nigeria is a wonderful country. We have been seeing so many things which made some people to predict that Nigeria would not continue as a country, from the June 12 crisis.

“This is where we are. Nigerians continue to ensure this country remains a united country,” he said.

The former Zamfara governor described Tinubu as a leader committed to Nigeria’s development, insisting that the president’s record would form a major part of the APC’s campaign message.

“Tinubu is beyond any other person. He is for Nigerians and he’s a leader that loves this country without any fear of contradiction,” Yari said.

Yari also explained that his first official engagement as campaign council director-general was with traditional rulers because of their close connection with the grassroots and their influence within their communities.

He said their support and blessings would be crucial to the success of the APC’s campaign.

Governor Lawal, who hosted the delegation, said the meeting was organised to formally introduce Yari to the traditional rulers following his appointment as director-general of the presidential campaign council.

Describing Yari as a “son of the soil,” Lawal said the purpose was to seek the traditional rulers’ support for the campaign.

The governor also assured the campaign council that Tinubu would enjoy overwhelming support in Zamfara State during the 2027 general elections.
