Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to aggressively expanding rural road networks to boost economic activity, attract investment, and curb insecurity across the state.
Speaking while hosting the Forum of Presidents of Cultural Associations at the Government House, Governor Sule disclosed that his administration is actively addressing crucial transport corridors.
He noted that prior to the visit, he inspected the Gitata-Panda road, a key economic hub rich in agricultural potential and mineral deposits that currently suffers from illegal mining.
He assured that formal construction on the axis will commence as soon as contractors are engaged.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects, the Governor listed several rural roads receiving attention or nearing completion across various local government areas, including-Nasarawa Eggon–Arikya road Nasarawa–Ara road
Wamba–Wayo–Alizaga road Adonkasa–Karikari road (Karu Local Government Area).
Beyond rural roads, Governor Sule addressed the completion of the Usman Dan Fodio Airport in Lafia.
He clarified that while the project was conceived before his tenure, his administration executed the bulk of the critical work -including the terminal building, apron, watchtower, and perimeter fencing -before handing it over to the Federal Government.
The Governor also announced upcoming plans to deploy World Bank-funded resources for business development and street lighting to enhance security, while inviting cultural leaders to join the planning committee for Nasarawa State’s 30th anniversary.
In response, Chief Cletus Anthony Inji, National President of RICUDA speaking on behalf of the forum, commended Governor Sule’s achievements in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture over the past seven years, pledging the continued support of the state’s cultural associations.
