FUDMA Announces Opportunity for Students to Receive N50m Grant

The Faculty of Computing, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, has encouraged students of the Faculty to apply for the Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) Cohort 2, which offers opportunity for them to receive up to N50 million grant for outstanding innovations.

 

The S-VCG is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education under the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) pillar of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) agenda.

 

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Umar Iliyasu said the grant is targeted at students who develop innovative, technology-driven solutions capable of addressing real-world challenges.

Under the initiative, 50 outstanding student-led STEMM ventures are expected to receive up to ₦50 million each in equity-free funding.

 

In addition to the financial support, successful applicants will benefit from six months of mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and relevant organisations to support the development, scaling, and commercialisation of their innovations.

 

The faculty, therefore, encouraged students with innovative ideas, prototypes, applications, research projects, or technology-based solutions to apply.

 

It said that areas of interest include artificial intelligence and machine learning, software and Mobile application development, cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), data science, and analytics.

Others are Health Technology, Agricultural Technology, Educational Technology, FinTech and E-Commerce, Renewable Energy and Smart Systems, Logistics and Digital Platforms, Robotics and Embedded Systems, among other STEMM-related innovations

The grant provides an opportunity for students to transform their final-year projects, research ideas, prototypes, or startup concepts into viable enterprises capable of creating practical olutions and contributing to national development.

 

According to the faculty, interested students are encouraged to submit their applications before the 30 September 2026 deadline.

 

The grant offers up to ₦50 million per venture on an equity-free basis, providing successful applicants with the opportunity to develop their innovations without surrendering equity in their ventures.

 

Applications can be submitted through the official S-VCG portal: svcg.education.gov.ng

 

The faculty assured interested students of its readiness to provide guidance and support throughout the application process, urging them not to allow their innovative ideas to remain merely as classroom projects but to develop, pitch and transform them into sustainable enterprises.
