Following the formal declaration of Kudla Milinda Satumari Haske as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Askira/Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in Borno State, stakeholders have called for a new strategy and alignment.
Haske has declared his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for Askira/Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency and stakeholders during a gathering in Borno South said they will encourage him to provide what they described as a new direction not only for the constituency, but for their entire region and Nigeria.
A political analyst, Ahmed Baba who was at the rally, while speaking on the Haske entrance into the race for for Askira/Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency under the platform of the PDP, said they are now demanding a new perspective.
He said, “In the intricate chessboard of Southern Borno politics, few names command the organic loyalty that the “Haske” brand has cultivated over the last 16 years.
“As we approach the upcoming elections, it is becoming increasingly clear that any senatorial candidate hoping for a decisive victory must look beyond their own campaign structures and recognize the seismic influence of this political movement,” he said.
According to Baba, major senatorial contender should learn lesson and should not make mistake of shifting their ambition for a loss of relevance.
“While Haske is not on the senatorial ballot this year, his political machinery—built over nearly two decades of consistent, resilient engagement—remains the most formidable variable in the zone.
“His supporters are not merely passive voters; they are a deeply rooted coalition of youth, women, and community leaders who have been nurtured through years of advocacy. A candidate who ignores this bloc does so at their own peril,” he said.
Also speaking for the Southern Borno Fixers, Samson Bata said they are engaging with the Haske movement not just to secure a nod.
“The Haske movement is about aligning with the pulse of the grassroots. Those who understand the power of political synergy recognize that an endorsement from such a figure isn’t just symbolic—it is a strategic asset that can tip the scales in a tightly contested race,” he said.
According to him, “For the voters of Southern Borno, it is instructive to observe a seasoned politician who refuses to coast on reputation.
“While Haske’s current bid for the House of Representatives is viewed by many as a “done deal” due to his overwhelming popularity, he continues to approach the contest with the hunger and discipline of a first-time candidate.
“This is a rare trait in our political landscape. It signals a candidate who respects his constituents enough to earn their vote every single time, rather than demanding it as a right. It serves as a reminder to the electorate: look for leaders who show up, work as if they are the underdogs, and prioritize direct engagement with the communities they seek to serve,” he said.
It was gathered that the political atmosphere in Southern Borno is charged with anticipation.
“The major candidates may choose to court this influence or attempt to circumvent it will likely define the final tallies.
“The Haske factor is a reality that cannot be ignored. It serves as a testament to the fact that in politics, long-term consistency is the greatest form of currency.
“For the smart candidate, the path to victory involves recognizing this influence; for the observant voter, it is a guide to identifying leadership that prioritizes the grassroots,” the group said during the rally.
Speaking during his declaration in his constituency on Thursday, the candidate for the House of Representatives for Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, Hon Kudla Satumari Haske, called for an end to insecurity, poor infrastructure and economic neglect in the constituency.
Satumari made the call while declaring his intention to contest for the federal constituency in Borno State.
He said his decision to seek the mandate was driven by what he described as the urgent needs of farmers, youths, women and other residents across the constituency.
According to him, the people deserve representation that will prioritise their security, welfare and economic wellbeing.
“We must end fear, isolation and economic neglect,” Satumari said.
He said the protection of the people would remain his “highest calling” if elected into the House of Representatives.
“We will prioritise the protection of our people as our highest calling. I will champion the strengthening of community policing, advocate for increased security infrastructure, and ensure that our farmers can return to their lands without fear, and our families can sleep in peace,” he said.
Satumari said insecurity had affected economic activities and made it difficult for farmers to access their farmlands.
He promised to push for measures that would improve security and restore confidence among residents.
The candidate also identified poor rural roads as another major challenge confronting the constituency.
He pledged to advocate the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads to connect communities and facilitate the movement of farm produce to markets.
“We will break the chains of isolation,” he said.
Satumari also promised to pursue measures aimed at improving agriculture and creating economic opportunities for residents.
He said he would advocate access to modern farming equipment, affordable credit and direct markets for farmers.
He added that local businesses and entrepreneurs would also require support to create sustainable wealth within the constituency.
On education, the candidate pledged to advocate improved educational infrastructure, teacher welfare and skills development programmes for young people.
He said the future of the constituency depended largely on equipping its younger population with the knowledge and skills required to compete in a changing economy.
Satumari also listed healthcare as one of the priorities of his proposed representation.
He promised to advocate accessible and affordable healthcare services, particularly for families who struggle with the cost of medical treatment.
He said his agenda would rest on six areas: security and peace, agriculture and economic empowerment, rural roads and infrastructure, youth education and skills, healthcare and effective representation.
Satumari said his proposed representation would be based on service rather than personal ambition.
“I seek to be a humble servant, not a master,” he said.
He also called for unity among the people of Askira Uba and Hawul, saying development could not be achieved through division.
“We will tear down the walls of tribalism and partisanship to build a house of common purpose,” he said.
Satumari said he was seeking partnership with the people rather than merely asking for their votes.
He pledged to remain accessible and accountable if given the mandate.
He also promised to use his position in the National Assembly to attract development projects and partnerships to the constituency.
“My vision is not just for a term, but for a generational shift,” he said.
Satumari said he envisioned a constituency where children would have access to quality education, youths would be empowered, families would be supported and residents could live without fear.
He urged residents, community leaders, youths and women to join what he described as a collective journey towards rebuilding the constituency.
“Together, we will open a glorious new chapter for Askira Uba/Hawul,” he said.
