The Managing Director of Peoples Daily Newspaper, Alhaji Maharazu Ahmad, has described Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, as one of Nigeria’s best-performing governors, saying he has fulfilled about 90 per cent of the promises he made to the electorate within three years in office.

Ahmad made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the governor’s media aides to the headquarters of Peoples Daily in Abuja.

According to him, the newspaper’s management had closely monitored the performance of the Idris administration through various media platforms and was satisfied with the level of development recorded across the state.

“We have been looking forward to this opportunity to express our profound appreciation to the governor for the remarkable achievements he has recorded in Kebbi State within just three years.

“It is evident that the governor has changed the narrative by demonstrating the vision and capacity to initiate and execute impactful projects that directly improve the lives of the people,” he said.

The media executive also expressed the organisation’s readiness to partner with the Kebbi State Government by providing wider publicity for its programmes and achievements.

He said the governor had delivered the dividends of democracy through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare and human capital development.

Speaking during the visit, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, commended Peoples Daily for what he described as its objective and professional reportage of government activities.

The commissioner said the administration of Governor Idris had transformed the state capital and other parts of Kebbi through people-centred projects, adding that the achievements recorded over the past three years had positively affected residents.

He said, “Governor Idris inherited widespread infrastructural decay across virtually all sectors and public institutions in the state. However, as a committed leader, he changed the narrative by embarking on projects that have direct bearing on the welfare and development of the people.

“The governor has made remarkable interventions in road construction, healthcare, education, agriculture and youth empowerment, among other critical sectors.”

The delegation included the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi; the Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru; the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim Jombali; the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmad Idris; and the Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado Argungu.
