Akume, APC, opposition chieftains storm Zamfara as Yari buries aunt

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, on Thursday led a high powered Federal Government delegation to Talata Mafara in Zamfara State to condole with the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, who lost his maternal aunt, Hajiya Rukiya Jibril, his mother’s immediate younger sister.

Commiserating with the bereaved family on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Sen. Akume assured Sen. Yari and members of his family that they were not alone in their moment of grief.

The SGF encouraged the family to draw solace from their faith, knowing that the deceased had completed her earthly journey and returned to her Creator. He also described death as a transition and a return to God only at a time He divingly willed.

Akume prayed to God to forgive her sins, accept her good deeds and the grant her soul mercy. He also expressed hope that Almighty God would grant her a place among the righteous.

Responding, Sen. Yari expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the show of compassion and solidarity extended to him and his family at their time of grief.

Yari equally appreciated the SGF and all members of the delegation for making the journey to Talata Mafara to personally honour the deceased and stand with the family during their mourning period.

The APC Campaign DG, described the visit as a huge source of comfort, strength and encouragement to him and the entire family; even as he prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and blessings upon President Tinubu, the SGF, the delegation and the Federal Government.

He also appealed to Nigerians to always remember his late aunt in their prayers and to pray for God’s forgiveness and mercy on her soul.

Others members of the Federal Government delegation were Niger State Governor, Umar Bago; National Secretary of the APC, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru; former Imo State Governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, amongst others.

Similarly, some opposition parties figures in attendance were former Sokoto state governor, Sen. Abdul Ningi and Sen. Aminu Tambuwal who represented the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sen. Tony Nwoye led members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation on the condolence visit.
