LG Electronics has unveiled a new NeoChef microwave in Nigeria programmed to cook popular Nigerian meals, including Jollof Rice, Moi Moi, Poundo Yam and Suya, as the company seeks to make microwave cooking more relevant to local households.
The appliance, introduced under the campaign, “Cook the African Way, The NeoChef Way,” features 20 African-inspired AutoCook programmes among 28 preset menus, allowing Nigerian consumers to prepare familiar meals with automated cooking settings.
Other Nigerian dishes programmed into the microwave include Coconut Rice, Pap, Asun, Chicken-Dodo Suya, Vegetable Fried Rice, Jollof Pasta, Suya Roasted Fish, Plantain Cheesy Bite and Grilled Corn.
LG said the Nigerian-focused menus were developed around the country’s cooking preferences and the foods commonly prepared in local homes.
The company said the initiative was designed to move the microwave beyond its traditional role of reheating and defrosting.
Instead, Nigerians can select a familiar dish and allow the appliance to optimise the cooking settings for the meal.
Product Director, Home Appliances Solutions, LG Electronics West Africa, Oktae Kim, said the company’s approach was based on understanding how Nigerians cook and eat.
“At LG, innovation begins with understanding our consumers,” Kim said.
“Nigerians are passionate about their food, and this new NeoChef Microwave enables families to prepare many of their favourite meals more conveniently without compromising on authentic taste,” he added.
The Nigerian menus form the largest component of the appliance’s 28 AutoCook programmes.
The remaining eight programmes comprise Arabic and European dishes, giving consumers additional options beyond Nigerian and African cuisine.
LG said the localisation of the menus reflected its effort to develop products around actual consumer behaviour rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach to technology.
The NeoChef MH8265CIS has a 42-litre capacity, 1,200W microwave output and grill functionality.
It also features LG’s Smart Inverter Technology, designed to provide precise power control for more even heating and defrosting.
The appliance comes with EasyClean antibacterial coating, touch controls and multiple cooking functions.
LG said the technology could help Nigerian households cope with increasingly busy lifestyles while retaining access to familiar meals.
From Jollof Rice and Moi Moi to Poundo Yam and Suya, the company said the new menus were intended to bring foods Nigerians already know into an appliance traditionally associated with convenience rather than full meal preparation.
The LG NeoChef with African AutoCook Menu is now available at LG Brand Shops, Fouani Showrooms and authorised LG retail partners nationwide.Alternative harder headline options:
