The presidential campaign organisation of the Allied Peoples Movement has announced the commencement of zonal town hall meetings ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The meetings, which will cover Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, are aimed at engaging citizens and stakeholders on issues of national importance, the campaign said.
The campaign’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Tony Ehilebo, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday.
The exercise will begin with the North-West zone in Katsina, Katsina State, on Tuesday, September 22.
The campaign will move to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for the South-South town hall on Friday, September 25.
The North-Central engagement will hold in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, September 28, while the South-East meeting is scheduled for Enugu on Wednesday, September 30.
Dates for the North-East and South-West engagements are expected to be announced later.
Ehilebo said the meetings would be “issue-based and citizen-driven”.
He said they would focus on critical national issues, particularly the stability of the country and the welfare of Nigerians.
According to him, the campaign’s message, “Reset Nigeria”, centres on accountability in governance, transparency in the management of public resources and greater citizen participation.
“The zonal town hall meetings will be issue-based and citizen-driven,” Ehilebo said.
“They will centre on critical issues of national importance, especially those touching directly on the stability of the nation and the wellbeing of all its citizens.”
The organisation said the meetings formed part of its broader nationwide consultation and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
It also urged citizens and stakeholders to participate in the engagements and contribute to discussions on issues affecting the country.
The Allied Peoples Movement had earlier announced Governor Seyi Makinde as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
