Corruption, fraud stall Olokola project, Amosun

Date:

From James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta

Fraud, corruption, selfishness and lack of sincerity on the part of the immediate past administration in Ogun State under the leadership of Otunba Gbenga Daniel had been attributed as some factors that led to the frustration of the multi billion naira Olokola project.

The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who stated this yesterday while breaking silence on the allegation by Daniel that he (Amosun) deliberately frustrated the project because the project falls within Ogun East Senatorial District, said lack of sincerity from his predecessor made the project to be stopped, assuring the people of the area that his administration will do everything possible to bring back the project on stream.

Amosun stated this yesterday while addressing the people of Ogun Waterside local government area of the state in Abigi in the continuation of his tour to all the 20 council areas.

He revealed that he has been silent on series of allegations leveled against his administration by his predecessor, hinted that act of selfishness is what has delayed the Olokola project.

According to him, “I don’t want to talk about Olokola project, but now that you have asked in public, we must talk about it because some people are already deceiving the people and that is why I will explain a bit because there are moments when truth must be said.

“I am happy you said the project has been on for about 12 years ago and we have just spent three years and four months, there is no way that what we have done within these period could have stalled Olokola  and that is why I said some things are better not said. It was selfishness and greed that that stalled Olokola since inception of the project.
