PDP BoT backs Wike on role in Tinubu’s gov’t, mourns late Dan Orbih

Key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) have paid a condolence visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, using the occasion to affirm the party’s backing of his executive role in government while jointly mourning the late National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Dan Orbih.

The delegation, led by BoT Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, visited Wike’s Abuja residence on Tuesday evening to honour late Orbih, whom they described as a steadfast pillar and “political general” of the party.

Ohuabunwa addressed Wike’s political standing, dispelling notions of an internal rift over the minister’s cabinet appointment under the ruling administration.

“Everything he has been saying about the party is nothing but the truth.

“When he was offered this appointment, he wrote the party at all levels, and the party unanimously accepted and asked him to go and represent us.

“As the conscience and compass of this party, we are very proud of him, proud of his performance and proud of his capacity,” Ohuabunwa said.

Reflecting on his relationship with the deceased, Wike disclosed that Orbih played a pivotal role in his political rise.

“God used Dan Orbih to make me governor. He was the Chairman of the PDP in Edo State at the time, and during the crisis in the Rivers State chapter, he chose to stand by the truth.

“ It is unfortunate that he died, but the loss is shared by all of us,” Wike stated.

Wike expressed gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to staying within the PDP to help rebuild its structures.

The delegation,which included Senator Zainab Kure, former Sports Minister Hon. Damishi Sango, and BoT Secretary Isah Dansidi urged Wike to remain focused despite ongoing political commentary.
